The Plan de Innovación y Mejora Forestal de Galicia 2010-2020 (Forestry Innovation and Improvement Plan of Galicia 2010-2020) aims to continuously increase the quantity and quality of the forestry products. The Forestry Improvement Program is included in this plan and its purpose is to procure an advanced forestry in order to obtain high productivity plantations in a sustainable way. The forestry improvement studies are based on the evaluation of the reproductive material and on the optimization of the techniques and equipment used in soil preparation, plantating density and fertilization. The focus is going to be on the pine species with more representation in the region (Pinus pinaster Ait. and Pinus radiata D. Don).
